If you need advanced neurological testing, turn to The Neurological Center Of East Georgia, P.C. We offer many options for comprehensive testing. You can also visit us if you need a specialized second opinion on your neurological condition. Call our locally owned clinic today to schedule an appointment.

Many Neurological Testing Options Are Available

  • EMG (electrical myography) - electrical activity in the muscle is recorded using a thin needle inserted into the main part of the muscle. EMG and NCV tests are often performed together
  • NCV (nerve conduction velocity) - small electrical pulses are sent through electrodes placed on arms or legs to monitor nerve response
  • EEG (electroencephalogram) - Electrodes are placed on the scalp and record brain activity for 45 minutes
  • Carotid ultrasound (carotid Doppler, carotid duplex) - high-frequency sound waves show how much blood flows through the carotid artery and how fast it travels. This is the same type of ultrasound performed during pregnancy
  • TCD (transcranial doppler) - high-frequency sound waves show how much blood flows through blood vessels in the brain and how fast it travels
  • MRI and MRA (magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography) - magnetic fields and radio waves are used to take pictures of parts of the body. There is no radiation and it's safe for most patients unless they have metal in their body
  • Sleep lab - tests for obstructive sleep apnea and narcolepsy
  • Behavior testing - tests for ADD and ADHD
